Naomi Quartey, popularly known as DJ Spices, is one of the most popular and successful youth DJs in Ghana. She is known for her energetic performances, her eclectic mix of music, and her commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture.
Spices began her DJ career before the age of 8, and she quickly made a name for herself as one of the most up-and-coming youth female DJs in Ghana. Taking the DJ community by storm she gained popularity on TV3’s Talented kidz where she competed against some of Ghana’s brightest youth talents. Although she didn’t win a prize during her first attempt, Spices increased her practice time and returned the next season where she won second place on TV3’s Talented Kidz season 11.
Continuing her path to greatness in the DJ community she was nominated for Discovery DJ of the Year and best Young DJ for the Ghana DJ awards in 2020 and 2021. She wouldn’t pull in enough votes to take home the trophy during either of the voting cycles but her hard wok and determination would pay off as she won “Best Young DJ” of the year back-to-back at the Ghana DJ Awards’ in 2022 and in 2023.
Spices is known for her diverse musical tastes. She plays a mix of Afrobeats, hip hop, R&B, and dancehall. She is also known for her ability to mix different genres of music together in a way that is both creative and danceable.
Spices is a passionate advocate for Ghanaian culture and community wellness. She regularly plays at events that promote Ghanaian music, health and culture. She is also a vocal supporter of Ghanaian musicians and producers.
